Reflections 2020-21

Picture
National PTA Art Competition
PTA Reflections is a nationally acclaimed student recognition program to encourage artistic creativity in the classroom and at home. Students of all grades and abilities may participate and explore the arts based on the 2020-2021 theme: I Matter Because. Every year, several Park Western Place students are honored by the Tenth District PTA!  Last year, one of our students won the district round and competed in the state competition to win the Award of Merit in music composition.  Previously, one PWP student even won the National Special Artist’s Award of Excellence in Literature!  Let’s continue to show the nation how amazing PWP students really are!

Project Deadline November 9

Arts Categories:

All students are invited to participate and submit original artwork in six categories:
  • Dance Choreography
  • Literature
  • Photography
  • Film Production
  • Music Composition
  • Visual Arts

Grade Divisions

Students enter in the appropriate division for their grade:
  • Primary: Preschool-Grade 2
  • Intermediate: Grades 3-5
  • Special Artist: All grades welcome
How it works:
Artworks are submitted first to school-level PTAs, where they are first recognized, celebrated and judged by grade divisions, while a non-judged Special Artists division celebrates student artists with special needs. School PTAs then choose a selection of entries to be judged by local PTA units, which are then sent on to councils and then districts for consideration. The final artworks submitted to California State PTA by districts are then considered for Awards of Excellence or Awards of Merit. Award of Excellence entries then go on to represent California in the final National PTA judging round. Visit CAPTA Reflections for more information.
How to participate:
  1. Read the Official Rules in the Student Packet and decide which categories you are interested in. (Las reglas en espanol)
  2. You can submit artwork for more than one category (but only one artwork per category).  For example, you can make one video for Dance Choreography and submit one artwork for Visual Arts, but you cannot submit 2 videos for Dance Choreography. Read the rules for the categories you are interested in:
  • Dance Choreography
  • Literature
  • Photography
  • Film Production
  • Music Composition
  • Visual Arts
     3.  Create your artwork(s) and complete your Student Entry Form by November 9.
