2018 CIMI 5th Grade Trip Information
April 4-6th, 2018
The 5th grade students have a wonderful opportunity to attend a marine biology trip to Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI). This 3 day/2 night camp is from Wednesday, April 4 through Friday, April 6, 2018.
We contracted for 100 spaces at the camp. Spaces are reserved for students on a first come, first served basis. We can increase our contracted number until Nov. 1. Our cost, as a school, for the contracted 100 spaces is $26,000. However, if all 128 students decide to go, the cost will rise to $33,280. That averages out to $260 per student. This price includes round trip transportation by boat, lodging, meals, wet suit, snorkeling gear, and the instructional program.
There is no mandatory fee charged to any student for participating. However, funding for this trip relies entirely on parent donations and fundraising. Park Western must send in the total deposit of $100 per person no later than November 1. If we are unable to raise all the money we need for this trip by winter break (Dec. 15), we will cancel the trip. Money donated by families in the form of checks or money orders will be returned if the trip is cancelled. Fundraised money will not be returned, but instead will be used to fund the Riley’s Farm trip later in the year.
We need everyone’s help to make this trip happen. In the forms area there are sample letters your child could send to businesses or family and friends asking for donations toward the trip. Please consider having your child participate in raising the money for his or her own trip.
Commitment form and $100 deposit are due by
Oct. 31, 2017 to reserve a spot for your child.
Please send checks or money orders made out to PWP/PTA along with your commitment form to the office, or you can pay online with a credit card here and have your child deliver just the form to the office:
